    Call for Papers
    Exploring Childhood Studies, A Graduate Student Conference
    Department of Childhood Studies Graduate Student Organization
    at Rutgers University, Camden,
    to be held April 9, 2010
    on the Rutgers University, Camden, NJ campus
    We invite proposals from all disciplines, including education, literature,
    economics, psychology, sociology, anthropology, law, political science,
    history, criminology, philosophy, medicine, religion, film studies, and
    cultural studies as well as multi-disciplinary scholarly work. The range of
    possible topics includes: war, health, rights, gender, poverty, wealth,
    policy, ethics, popular culture, globalization, school, family, home,
    sexuality, community, social constructions, theorizations and
    representations of children and childhood in all modes of fiction.
    Please send a 250-word abstract plus cover letter
    together with your name, current level of graduate study,
    affiliated university, and email address
    By October 31st, 2009

    Call for Papers
    Children and War: Past and Present
    International multidisciplinary conference
    to be held at the University of Salzburg, Austria
    September 30th–October 2nd, 2010
    Organized by the University of Salzburg and
    The University of Wolverhampton (UK)
    All proposals which focus on any topic and theme on ‘Children and War’ are welcome, ranging from the experience of war, flight, displacement and resettlement, relief and rehabilitation work, gender issues, persecution, trafficking, abuse and prostitution, trauma and amnesia, the trans–generational impact of persecution, individual and collective memory, educational issues, films and documentaries, artistic and literary approaches, to remembrance and memorials, and questions of theory and methodology.
    Specific conference themes anticipated are:
    – Children as witnesses and victims of war and conflicts
    – Holocaust, genocides and forced labor
    – Child soldiers, partisans and resistance fighters
    – Army mascots
    – Deportations and displacements, refugees and asylum seekers
    – War crimes, trials and human rights
    Please send an abstract of 200–250 words
    together with biographical background information of 50–100 words
